I went to the hh Gregg store at Great Northern in North Olmsted, Ohio to purchase a flat screen TV after my old one broke. When I walked into the store there wasn't a body in sight to help me. I finally had to go search for an associate. The one I did find was not too pleased to help me. He acted as if I was bothering him. His name was Rick. I found a 60 inch Sony flat screen TV that was on sale that I liked (after he tried to sell me a 3D TV which I did not want). I opted for the 1 year same as cash option. He took all my information for the credit approval and told me my credit was denied. WHAT! I am a home owner with excellent credit. One of the requirements was a major credit card. Mine was a Chase VISA card. When I asked him the reason it was denied he said he couldn't tell me, but would call the processing center at Synchrony Bank. Synchrony Bank said my ss # wasn't matching the name on the major credit card. Rick then told me the first names on the account weren't matching. He said my ss # is coming up under the name Jenny, but the credit card was coming up under the name of Chase. You guessed it. He had entered my credit card "Chase" into the first name field of my application. He then told me that even though he corrected it, my credit was still denied.

hh Gregg had sent me emails advertising a $100 gift card with any purchase over $500. That was the deciding factor as to whether or not I would use my credit card for the purchase. Rick said I would get the gift card, so we moved forward with the purchase using my credit card. After everything was rang up and he got the TV from the warehouse, I again asked him about the gift card to which he replied "Oh I was on vacation last week, I didn't realize that promotion had expired." That was the deciding factor as to whether or not I was going to purchase the TV with my credit card. Throughout my whole visit he kept walking away from me to ask the manager something. Using the hh Gregg website I sent an email to them. Their reply said my complaint would be sent to upper level management and I would be hearing from someone at the company soon. I am still waiting.

One month after being denied credit at hh Gregg (Synchrony Bank) my refrigerator broke. I went to Lowe's to purchase a new refrigerator and was approved for $16,000.00 in credit (from Synchrony Bank) in approximately 5 minutes after submitting the application.

I will never shop at hh Gregg again. The scary thing after reading the other reviews is I took out an extended warranty on the TV. I just hope the TV never has a problem.
